#fabfound

Saturday morning... 7am... it's a little easier to get up when you know you're headed to a fun shopping event!

This morning I attended a private shopping event hosted by TJ Maxx/ Marshalls/ Homegoods and it was fabulous!  Not every location participated, but most major cities had a few stores open early today. Thankfully, I have a Marshalls really close to home (even though I was totally willing to drive across town) and it happens to be in West 7th so you know it's a nice store!

I'm not sure how I managed to arrive early but I did!  A few of us ladies were waiting outside the door! And as soon as the store was opened, we were greeted by many friendly, smiling faces, a small breakfast spread and a free gift card!  I had brought my own coffee... never leave home without it... but I was quickly on those muffins and donuts!
As you can see, I wasn't having any trouble finding things to try on...
Marshalls has really done a great job of staying on top of the trends!  If you haven't shopped there in awhile, most stores are really well designed and organized.  They offer more of a boutique feel but still with a much larger selection.  There's always trendy clothing in the front of the stores, and racks divided by designer brand, so it's easy for you to shop your favorites.  Today I found a ton of great patterned pieces... dresses, crop tops, shorts, kimonos and more!
Turns out nothing I tried on actually fit me that well and let's face it, fit is everything so I had to pass on a lot of pieces that looked super cute on the hanger but not so super cute on me!  Just an off day I guess.  Hey, it happens!  Did that stop me from making a purchase? HA! Heck no.  I did find something I loved and... well... probably didn't need, but wanted anyway!
So what's in my shopping bag? (p.s. isn't this a cute reusable bag? also a free gift I received!)...

It's another bag! As soon as I saw it, I fell in love with the color combo.  You just don't see it that often.  I totally didn't need another Coach bag and yes Coach is easily accessible and relatively affordable many places, but I kept going back to this bag!
I have an obsession with tote bags / oversized bags.  I don't know what it is!  I will seriously pack like 7 individual smaller bags for trips rather than 2 big pieces of luggage, just simply because I like so many totes!  But I make a lot of small trips around Texas, staying a night or two here and there, so I feel like bags are justifiable in my sassy world!

Chris probably doesn't think the same... ha!  He happened to text me from work while I was first looking at this bag and made the mistake of saying, "happy wife, happy life"!!  Into the shopping cart...

The best thing about this bag, I think, is that it has two pieces.  So not only is the bag one big giant pocket, making it easy to pack larger items, but there's a detachable inner pocket too!
Kind of like getting two bags in one!  This smaller bag could easily be used for makeup or your delicate intimate items, or accessories and jewelry!  I love the blue and green combo so much!  And the yellow tag is actually a little more neon lime green-ish than the picture shows, which is fun!  I snagged this bag for $40 + tax!  (Leave it to me to purchase a taxed item on tax-free weekend!)  The original retail price is $148 so I think I got a pretty good deal!

If you're interested in attending events like this, you need to check out the Insider Program at TJMaxx.com .  All you need to do is sign up with your email address to stay in the know about special events, sales, etc.  Since it is just an email subscription, you can also sign up at HomeGoods or Marshalls.  (All the same company)  It's that easy!

I love shopping at these stores so much because you really can find amazing designer steals!  The handbag section is always a must-see for me... obviously!  Hope you're having an amazing weekend!  Mine started out pretty well!  Happy tax-free shopping this weekend y'all!

The sun will come out...

It's been a rainy 24 hours in Fort Worth and looks like it will be continuing most of today.  It's a nice break from the heat that has hit all too quick this year!  With the temp a tad cooler, I opted for a cute pants outfit for church and lunch yesterday.  The sun came out just in time for a super fast mini photo shoot.

I love this shirt so much.  It's extremely lightweight and has a variety of color.  Not my usual brights or neons, but still great!  And I love how it sort of looks like watercolor brushstrokes.  It's the artist in me ;-) I paired the blouse with classic brown trousers for a softer look; I feel like the contrast of black would have been too much.  And of course a little more pattern play with the shoes and my pop of persimmon!  See, this handbag does it again!

I enjoyed a beautiful weekend with my husband and my family despite the weird weather! Hope yours was fabulous too!  Have a great week and don't forget to add some color to your wardrobe to balance out that DFW gray! Happy Monday!

Outfit Art

My style is pretty simple usually.  I like a lot of black and white and I really love pops of bright color!  Many times the bright color is infused throughout my outfit, but today I went black & white all over with my accessories being the only color.
I've had this shirt for years and I honestly don't remember where I purchased it.  My guess would be Kohls or Target... just playin' the odds ;-) It's one of those super soft t-shirts that you could live in.  And I just love the graphic on the front.... a sassy lady with her handbag.  Looks like she's going shopping to me! And these pants! UH-bsessed! The houndstooth pattern gives the pants a solid look from afar and they are so comfortable and easy to dress up or down.  They are from Stein Mart.  I LOVE Stein Mart because it's like shopping boutiques but with sales and coupons and a much bigger selection.  Every time I'm wearing something extremely unique and people ask where it's from, the answer is usually Stein Mart.
The leather bag is Coach and it has become a staple in my wardrobe over the last year.  This bag was a  post-Christmas purchase with gift cards last year.  I went into the Coach store with the intention of buying a neutral leather bag... like black.  Everyone needs a black bag.  Well true to form, as soon as I saw the color, I was done.  This bag's color is "persimmon".  Chris makes fun of me because he called it "salmon" the other day and I corrected him.  (I mean, c'mon, NOT even close to salmon lol... MEN!) But I fell in love with this color and I debated in the store, by myself, for probably an hour.  The poor sales girls didn't know how to help me HA but I finally opted for the bright bag over black.  And surprisingly, it has served as a neutral in my wardrobe.  It just seems to go with everything! Well, except my neons! I love the mix of the orangey-red with the purple suede shoes.  The heels are Guess.

Chris and I had a great time at our first DMA Late Night event!  It's rare for us to venture to Dallas, but we're always up for museums and free events.  It was definitely right up our alley!  Live music, drinks, food, and free art!  I think art gallery events are my favorite because they bring together all of my loves!  And I really enjoy discussing art with Chris.  We learn from each other and get to know a side of each other that doesn't come out every day.  We will definitely be going back!
P.S. THIS HAIR! How much longer can I hold out from cutting it?! I'm sweating over here! ;-)
