It's so nice to see brands I love popping up more and more in stores I frequent!  Another example... Juicy Couture at Kohls.  Pair that with the fact that sportswear is a huge trend this fall and you've got a winning combination for staying on trend at an affordable price.

If you don't already shop at Kohls, well I'm just going to say it, you're missing out.  I don't care who you are or what designer digs you're sporting, everyone loves a great deal!  And that's exactly what Kohls offers... quality items at great prices.  There are sales galore and rewards programs and Kohls Cash and coupon codes... it's pretty common to save just as much, if not more, than you're spending.

Last night's {date night} was First Friday at the Modern and a sushi dinner (full recap coming soon!)  For now, here's the details on the important stuff... the outfit!

Tribal chic dresses

I took an online shopping chance at this dress... I really wasn't sure how it would fit or how I'd feel about the print, but it was super affordable and worth the risk, I figured.  I love tribal prints and I felt like a sassy dress was the easiest way to add some crazy color to my wardrobe! 

I had a hard time choosing... I'm loving ALL of these prints!  And I'm seriously considering purchasing the same dress in another print before they disappear... it's THAT comfortable!  The fabric is extremely soft and lightweight, and has a little bit of stretch.  I'm also a huge fan of the length!  You don't always find dresses that come past the knee... but this dress hits exactly where I like it to.  Major plus: you can also snag this dress in solid black or blue!

I recently purchased this Romeo & Juliet Couture black and white checkered skirt at Last Call Neiman Marcus during our blogger event!  It's so lightweight, flow-y and comfortable!  I paired it with this cute black and blue LC Lauren Conrad blouse and simple black accessories! {details & links below}

it started with a necklace

I've been obsessing over this statement necklace for the last few days!! It's SO pretty... even prettier in person than pictures can show!  I decided to build a cute, girly outfit around it! {details below}

The necklace, tank and metallic blazer are all from Kohls.  The skirt is from the Proenza Schouler for Target collection.  The clutch is LOFT and the pumps are Guess.  Unfortunately, most of these pieces are on the older side and are no longer available.  But this is a simple outfit to recreate and you probably have many of these pieces in your closet now!  

Tanks and T-shirts + flowing, girly skirts is a huge trend right now!  I love the mix of casual and sassy! I can't help but think of Carrie Bradshaw's infamous little pink & white dress with this trend! 

Choose a plain tank top, any color and pair it with a sassy skirt and you're good to go!  I decided to class it up a little with a fancier blazer.  The light cream color is daytime appropriate but the gold metallic weave gives it more interest and pulls out the gold in the necklace!

The sun will come out...

It's been a rainy 24 hours in Fort Worth and looks like it will be continuing most of today.  It's a nice break from the heat that has hit all too quick this year!  With the temp a tad cooler, I opted for a cute pants outfit for church and lunch yesterday.  The sun came out just in time for a super fast mini photo shoot.  

I love this shirt so much.  It's extremely lightweight and has a variety of color.  Not my usual brights or neons, but still great!  And I love how it sort of looks like watercolor brushstrokes.  It's the artist in me ;-) I paired the blouse with classic brown trousers for a softer look; I feel like the contrast of black would have been too much.  And of course a little more pattern play with the shoes and my pop of persimmon!  See, this handbag does it again!

I enjoyed a beautiful weekend with my husband and my family despite the weird weather! Hope yours was fabulous too!  Have a great week and don't forget to add some color to your wardrobe to balance out that DFW gray! Happy Monday!

Purple stripes & Pink roses

I feel like the plain white tank, or "wife beater" if you will, has been a huge staple in my outfits lately.  I guess when it starts getting hot in Texas, you feel the need to strip down to as little clothing as socially acceptable.  So here's the most recent outfit featuring the beloved tank!  And no, it's not some fancy $50 tank... it's Hanes and it's a men's undershirt ;-)

I was feeling colorful and eclectic in this outfit.  I like the contrast of the more dressy skirt with the casual tops.  My wedges are also denim, just a darker denim than the chambray shirt.
