it started with a necklace

I've been obsessing over this statement necklace for the last few days!! It's SO pretty... even prettier in person than pictures can show!  I decided to build a cute, girly outfit around it! {details below}
The necklace, tank and metallic blazer are all from Kohls.  The skirt is from the Proenza Schouler for Target collection.  The clutch is LOFT and the pumps are Guess.  Unfortunately, most of these pieces are on the older side and are no longer available.  But this is a simple outfit to recreate and you probably have many of these pieces in your closet now!

Tanks and T-shirts + flowing, girly skirts is a huge trend right now!  I love the mix of casual and sassy! I can't help but think of Carrie Bradshaw's infamous little pink & white dress with this trend!
Choose a plain tank top, any color and pair it with a sassy skirt and you're good to go!  I decided to class it up a little with a fancier blazer.  The light cream color is daytime appropriate but the gold metallic weave gives it more interest and pulls out the gold in the necklace!
Happy Monday loves!  Hope your week is off to a fabulous start!

color POP

This outfit is SO simple.  But that's also why I like it so much.  These are some of the easiest, most plain pieces in my closet... but everything POPS when you put them together.

I can remember having obsessions with these color schemes since I was a little girl... what? It's totally normal to think of color schemes when you're in Elementary School, right?! Well it was... for me... just like drawing floor plans of my future mansions was normal.  I'm a girl that belongs in design!

But really... black and white, I'll always love.  I love contrast.  I love bold.  Which is probably why I love blue, purple and pink together so much.  Many people would pick one of those as an accent color.  Not me.  I put them all together, all the time.  There's something really girly about the combo and I love it.  And I think as long as the tones are rich (more like jewel tones), you can definitely pull it off as an adult look.  I kept everything solid... no crazy patterns mixed in or anything like that.... so you can really just appreciate the bold colors and the individual pieces.
What do you think?  Looking back, I think the only change I would make is adding a statement necklace.  I love the stacking of beaded bracelets, but I feel like I could have done more with jewelry.
And while we're on accessories... let me please mention my Dooney crossbody bag because I'm obsessed!! This was a special prize I earned through Mary Kay... so, sorry! unfortunately you can't find or buy it!
Surprise! There's HOT PINK inside!
{Sources: Blue skinny jeans, Black tank & White button-up shirt are all from Target; Purple Suede Pumps are Guess; Pink Belt was a gift}

Hope you have a great rest of the weekend! Put some color in your clothes since it's so gloomy outside!

Bling-a-ding-ding

Ok Ok, I know I'm suffering from newlywed bliss and everyone's probably tired of hearing about it... deal with it LOL ;-)  But I can't really help it!  I just married the love of my life, and every time I look at my rings, I get SO happy!
Here's today's little details!  My engagement ring is from the Vera Wang Love collection, and the ring holder is Vera Wang for Wedgewood.  My wedding band is from Kay Jewelers.  The watch is Marc Jacobs (obviously) and the elephant necklace is a favorite of mine from H&M.  What's your favorite piece of jewelry?

One month and counting...

Today marks one month until our wedding! Ah!! I can't believe how quickly it's approaching.  I'm not going to lie, the planning process has been stressful and time-consuming.  It's easy for me and Chris, and I'm sure any couple, to fight in those circumstances.  But Valentine's Day yesterday was a perfect excuse to put all planning aside and just enjoy each other's company.  With the upcoming wedding and everything going on, we decided to stay on a budget and have a date night, but not splurge on gifts.  I did buy him a card and he bought me two bouquets of gorgeous flowers.
I surprised Chris with homemade peanut butter cookies, Prosecco on ice and a cute table setting.
Maybe it looked kinda cheesy, maybe not... I guess that depends on your outlook :-)  I loved it though.  {heart champagne flutes, red & pink heart shapes table scatter, napkins and paper plates all from Dollar Tree}  I experimented with the cookies and decided to try to make them heart-shaped.  The first batch wasn't quite right; They didn't look horrible but they also didn't look enough like hearts.
One the second batch, I formed the dough into a more drastic V-shape.
They turned out much better! ...actually, I think they turned out adorable!  It took a couple extra minutes but it was worth it.
After popping some bubbly and toasting to love, we headed out to dinner.  We're blessed to live in downtown Fort Worth and so we decided to walk.  It was a tad chilly, but thankfully the weather the last few days has been quite nice!  When we were trying to decide earlier that day where to eat, Chris and I had a telepathic moment where we both thought of Thai food at the same time.  He texted me while at work and suggested it and I thought Wow we're exactly on the same page.

If you haven't tried TIE in downtown, it's phenomenal.  This was only my second time eating Thai food; both experiences were at Tie.  I fell in love on our first visit.  It's delicious and it's affordable... and the restaurant is currently BYOB.  Not to mention the friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere.  You wouldn't think it could get any better, but it does... the music playlist.  I'm not sure if it's an XM radio station or what but it's straight up 90s jams and it takes me back to my childhood!  We brought along a few Shiners and enjoyed a fabulous meal for less than $30 before tip.
We thought about going bowling, but after calling the Lucky Strike and discovering they had a two and a half hour lane wait, we opted for something else.  Since we were already roaming downtown on foot, we headed a few blocks over to one of our favorite bars, Paddy Reds.  We ordered a few Shiners (since we had to store our leftover byob beers with the bartender) and played a couple of games of darts.
I think one of the things Chris loves about me is the fact that I love to dress cute and sassy, but I'm still one of those girls that is perfectly happy drinking a few beers and relaxing at the pub.  I was feeling a little Blair Waldorf compared to the other bar patrons {ha!} but that didn't stop me from loving this outfit!!

The night was perfectly us.  I loved it and I love him.  Hope you had a lovely Valentine's Day too.  One month and counting... I can't wait!

Comfy & Cute

There's nothing better than being totally comfy but also feeling girly and cute.  This is one of the biggest reasons I have so many Lauren Conrad pieces.  I love the pretty details on her clothing... in this case, lace.  This lightweight striped sweater is so comfortable and the lace gives it that extra femininity.  I went super casual with my jeans and boots, so I added lots of pretty jewelry.  I chose a leather bag in a soft, contrasting color.  And I curled my hair and did a messy ponytail.
