Valentine's Day 2020 outfit

Hey y'all!  Hope you enjoyed your MLK day, if you happened to get the day off!  I spent mine in catch up mode and sadly, I don't feel that caught up yet.  I did check some things off my to-do list so that feels good!  I'm super excited for some fun things that I have coming up!  It's blowing my mind that it's almost the end of January.  I've been working hard on myself and on my blog and there's just so many good things in the works!  It feels amazing!  I'm so grateful for the supportive people in my life and those readers and followers that are sticking by me as I figure this stuff out!

Today's post is all about my Valentine's outfit!  I don't know what the plan is yet haha actually just asked Chris today if we're doing something for Valentine's because I have this adorable sweater... *hint hint wink wink*

Valentine's Date Night

Happy Valentine's Day y'all!! Do you have anything special planned? I'm honestly not sure what the hubby and I will be doing (that's his job, right? Haha) But whatever it is, I'm super excited about my dress!! I have never bought a "Valentine's" outfit before and I wasn't planning to this year, but I had a gift card and did some shopping a few weeks ago and fell in love with this bargain from Last Call Neiman Marcus.

This dress is French Connection and is unfortunately sold out online. I guess that's the price you pay sometimes when at a "last call" store... but seriously it was such a deal that I couldn't pass it up! I don't have much red in my wardrobe. I do love the color, I've just never considered it a go-to for myself. But I love the bold shade of this dress, the comfortable fabric (side panels have some stretch) and the fact that this may be the first dress to give me proper cleavage LOL!!

What I really want to share is my love for combining PURPLE with red!!

GAL-entine's Day Guide

I happen to be someone that loves Valentine's Day... always have.  Even when I was single, I didn't quite understand the hate for this day.  I mean really, isn't everyone always saying to love one another?  And then turning around and hating on a day dedicated to love..?   Ok yeah, I get it... it's a "hallmark holiday"... unnecessary upcharge, lavish displays of love that seem to only serve the purpose of out-doing each other... that stuff I don't get.  To me, it's just everyone taking a very simple idea and making it ridiculously complicated (what else is new nowadays)  But when you take away all the stupid crap, it's just about showing each other, significant others, family, friends, whoever it may be, that we love them.

Showing our girlfriends love during this time can be very rewarding and pretty simple to do!  How about planning a GAL-entine's Night for you and your friends?  What's that, you ask?  Oh well here's my friend Leslie Knope to explain...
LOL Love that woman!  So if you'd love to host a GALentine's Day this year, I've linked some super cute items for you below!!! They'll help you entertain, get comfy and look cute!  And don't feel like you have to plan a whole night... it can be as simple as a few girlfriends in their PJs, painting nails, baking cookies (*cough* or eating the cookie dough *cough cough*) and watching chick flicks!

One month and counting...

Today marks one month until our wedding! Ah!! I can't believe how quickly it's approaching.  I'm not going to lie, the planning process has been stressful and time-consuming.  It's easy for me and Chris, and I'm sure any couple, to fight in those circumstances.  But Valentine's Day yesterday was a perfect excuse to put all planning aside and just enjoy each other's company.  With the upcoming wedding and everything going on, we decided to stay on a budget and have a date night, but not splurge on gifts.  I did buy him a card and he bought me two bouquets of gorgeous flowers.
I surprised Chris with homemade peanut butter cookies, Prosecco on ice and a cute table setting.
Maybe it looked kinda cheesy, maybe not... I guess that depends on your outlook :-)  I loved it though.  {heart champagne flutes, red & pink heart shapes table scatter, napkins and paper plates all from Dollar Tree}  I experimented with the cookies and decided to try to make them heart-shaped.  The first batch wasn't quite right; They didn't look horrible but they also didn't look enough like hearts.
One the second batch, I formed the dough into a more drastic V-shape.
They turned out much better! ...actually, I think they turned out adorable!  It took a couple extra minutes but it was worth it.
After popping some bubbly and toasting to love, we headed out to dinner.  We're blessed to live in downtown Fort Worth and so we decided to walk.  It was a tad chilly, but thankfully the weather the last few days has been quite nice!  When we were trying to decide earlier that day where to eat, Chris and I had a telepathic moment where we both thought of Thai food at the same time.  He texted me while at work and suggested it and I thought Wow we're exactly on the same page.

If you haven't tried TIE in downtown, it's phenomenal.  This was only my second time eating Thai food; both experiences were at Tie.  I fell in love on our first visit.  It's delicious and it's affordable... and the restaurant is currently BYOB.  Not to mention the friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere.  You wouldn't think it could get any better, but it does... the music playlist.  I'm not sure if it's an XM radio station or what but it's straight up 90s jams and it takes me back to my childhood!  We brought along a few Shiners and enjoyed a fabulous meal for less than $30 before tip.
We thought about going bowling, but after calling the Lucky Strike and discovering they had a two and a half hour lane wait, we opted for something else.  Since we were already roaming downtown on foot, we headed a few blocks over to one of our favorite bars, Paddy Reds.  We ordered a few Shiners (since we had to store our leftover byob beers with the bartender) and played a couple of games of darts.
I think one of the things Chris loves about me is the fact that I love to dress cute and sassy, but I'm still one of those girls that is perfectly happy drinking a few beers and relaxing at the pub.  I was feeling a little Blair Waldorf compared to the other bar patrons {ha!} but that didn't stop me from loving this outfit!!
{Booties: Isaac Mizrahi (old) similar // Wristlet: Coach}
{Heart blouse: LC Lauren Conrad // Skirt: Proenza Schouler}
The night was perfectly us.  I loved it and I love him.  Hope you had a lovely Valentine's Day too.  One month and counting... I can't wait!
