Instagram Try on session 4/2/20- clothing links

What day is it?  Thursday?! What?!  I'm actually surprised at how fast time is flying right now.  Don't get me wrong, the whole quarantine thing is going by slowly BUT I do actually feel like my individual days are going by pretty quick... Thank GOD!  K is keeping me super busy and I'm just absolutely exhausted doing it all on my own.  Even though I'm getting plenty of sleep, I feel more tired than ever.

Today I finally got a chance to do a quick try-on session with some of my newest online purchases.  If you haven't already watched my Instagram stories, I hope you'll go check it out!  I learned very quickly that my master bedroom lighting is horrible and I'll have to do something about that.  We have very little natural light in our house, unfortunately, and I can't stand any of our light fixtures LOL.  But one thing at a time.  I'm just happy my mirror is finally in a good place so I can try on clothes and show y'all!

So tonight I just wanted to quickly recap the items I shared and link them for y'all.  Obviously, my ultimate goal is to be able to swipe up on IG, so if you feel so inclined, I'd love if you'd share my profile with any you know that loves affordable fashion and home decor, especially anyone living in Fort Worth since I share on a lot of local boutiques and restaurants.  I'm excited to start sharing more of my home decor and DIY projects!  I appreciate y'all so much and I just want to grow my following so it's a little easier for me to share things directly from Insta!

I really got some great deals on the pieces I'm sharing.  I'm a bargain shopper so of course I'm always sorry in advance if anything sells out quickly or isn't available in all sizes.
CRAWFORD JUMPSUIT- The Styled Collection
Only $11!  I'm wearing small; Stocked in small, medium and large in black
(sorry my olive green is sold out)
$26.99 I'm wearing XS; Stocked in XS- XXL;
also available in Zebra print and Leopard midi (only $17.97)
$69.50 (so sorry, I caught these on a $30 sale so I will definitely share on IG if I see them go on sale again) I'm wearing XS in black; 5 colors available

MARGARITAS POR FAVOR TEE- purchased locally at a Stockyards boutique
(working on figuring out the name)

Have you been living in sweats and comfy clothes?  I definitely have!  I'm so bummed that I can't have a date night out and wear the jumpsuit and the tie dye dress.  Can't wait until that day comes.  Hope y'all are surviving!  Anyone dealing with extra anxiety can ALWAYS DM me or message me and I will always be able to relate.  Y'all know I'm here!  I'm taking everything one day at a time!  And although I'm limiting myself on the shopping, every once in awhile I just have to grab a new clothing item.  It's fun getting something in the mail!
Even if I have to Clorox Wipe the shit out of it! ;)

Valentines basket + valentines school treats

Hey y'all!  Hope you're having a great week so far!  We've had a hell of a few days!  Kendall had an allergic reaction to a medication and then picked up a virus on top of that so I've been on full time mommy duty the last few days.  It's the absolute worst seeing your child sick :(

I did want to go ahead and make sure that I got this Valentine's Day post up though because I got a lot of feedback on my Instagram about making V-day gifts for school friends; lots of mommy friends wanted some ideas.  So today I'm sharing the gifts I'm making for K to take to school as well as the Valentine's Day basket I made for her!

Fort Worth local companies that give back

Hey y'all!! Happy Friday!! Did anyone else have a super fast week?  Did you see my cute clutch bag on Instagram?  I love this fun pattern and the colors so much!  It's SO me!  This bag is from Elizabeth's Voice.  They have two artisan groups in Uganda and Lebanon.  In Uganda, the group is made up of single moms and widows.  In Lebanon, the group is all Iraqi and Syrian refugees rebuilding their lives in Beirut.  You can follow them on Facebook and Instagram.

Valentine's Day 2020 outfit

Hey y'all!  Hope you enjoyed your MLK day, if you happened to get the day off!  I spent mine in catch up mode and sadly, I don't feel that caught up yet.  I did check some things off my to-do list so that feels good!  I'm super excited for some fun things that I have coming up!  It's blowing my mind that it's almost the end of January.  I've been working hard on myself and on my blog and there's just so many good things in the works!  It feels amazing!  I'm so grateful for the supportive people in my life and those readers and followers that are sticking by me as I figure this stuff out!

Today's post is all about my Valentine's outfit!  I don't know what the plan is yet haha actually just asked Chris today if we're doing something for Valentine's because I have this adorable sweater... *hint hint wink wink*

work it girl

Happy Monday y'all!

This year has actually been really great so far! I know I know, we're only a couple weeks in.  But I've been feeling good lately and I know a huge part of that is taking some small steps for myself!

I've done a little self care like a mani and pedi and a haircut.  I've also spent time with my family and used some gift cards for shopping.  Next on the list is getting into some sort of workout routine!

Long Hair

Last time I cut my hair was over three years ago. Yes you read that right OVER THREE years ago. Right now my hair is crazy long. It’s in my way every single day. It touches the counter when I reach over to wash my hands or wash the dishes. It’s heavy and gives me headaches when I put it up in a topknot a.k.a. the poof. It’s ridiculously unhealthy. I haven’t had a haircut in three years.

6th Ave Homes House Shows

Small companies nowadays have to be super innovative.  I know that from working for a small company!  The game is constantly changing and entrepreneurs are successful when they are flexible, when they offer experiences and when they make people feel special through those experiences.

So happy to share something special today!  If you're local to Fort Worth, this post is for you!  You may think you don't need to know about a real estate company unless you're buying or selling a home.  Not true!  If you are someone that loves Fort Worth and loves the unique events in Fort Worth, you want to know all about 6th Ave Homes!

Not only is 6th Ave Homes innovative in the way they approach real estate with their in-house design teams and their knack for preserving the historic and adding modern flair, they are also super unique in the way they approach their business, and I've never seen anything else like it!
This is Josh Weathers and Chris and I had the pleasure of meeting him and chatting with him last year when we attended a 6th Ave Homes House Show!  These private concerts are held in renovated Fairmount neighborhood homes, are free, and are aimed at bringing the community together for a once-in-a-lifetime experience that shows you what the neighborhood is all about!

Now, we definitely didn't need to be "sold" on the Fairmount neighborhood; when we found out we were having Kendall a few years back, we knew exactly where we wanted to be!  There is still an old-fashioned sense of community in Fairmount and it's the kind of neighborhood where parents are cooking out together, hanging on porches and having a beer or glass of wine, and watching the kids on the block play!  But 6th Ave Homes has also tapped into that idea even further by bringing all kinds of people together, welcoming them into a home and creating a unique experience you can't get anywhere else: a private, acoustic concert by amazingly talented musicians.
Being in a historic home, one where you know people may have gathered 100 years ago+, sitting on window sills and rugs and whatever chairs you can find, listening to killer music, singing along, clapping and laughing, sharing beers, sometimes passing beers or water all the way from the back of the house to the front just so someone doesn't have to step over the entire crowd... this is an experience I've never had anywhere else!  6th Ave Homes is showing us every day what it's like to be a true Fort Worth resident, to love on your neighbors, to enjoy music and life together... and we're lucky enough to experience it!
Stay tuned TODAY at 10am for the announcement of their next House Show and tickets going on sale.  It's a FREE event and therefore sells out in MINUTES!  I hope I've enticed you to try it out!  It's something I'll never forget!!  I hope to see you at the next House Show!!

TCU Game Day Fashion

I'm back baby!  If you don't follow me yet on Instagram then you may not know that I started working part time with Shop Small Fort Worth.  Working plus having a toddler plus working my Mary Kay business has dramatically reduced my time for blogging and therefore I've taken a HUGE break.  And on top of that, I've mentioned in the past too, that I want so badly to change platforms and revamp the entire blog.  To be honest, I don't really like posting on here any more and I've been "saving up" multiple blog posts until I have a new blog launched instead of driving traffic to this page... but well, here I am again posting on here because I most definitely have not had the time to launch an entire new blog or to even decide if I want to hire help with that or what.

So I'm still here and I've decided that I'm going to try to do 1-2 posts a week since Kendall is now in school, and then I'll also work on figuring out what I'm going to do with the blog overall.

So now that it's mid-August (whaaaat?!) I'm happy to say that my first blog post after the long hiatus is all about Game Day Fashion... more specifically TCU Game Day Fashion!  Y'all know I love my purple and my Horned Frogs (any fellow alumni??) so I'm excited to share some adorable outfits and some tailgating/ watch party goods!  I will be linking some things but even if I can't link things directly, everything pictured is available at The Collective, which is a local Fort Worth boutique.
Dress & Scarf: shop at The Collective //
Booties: {old} similarsimilar, similar
Purple Tie Front Dress: Fringe Gifts {on sale!} or shop at The Collective //
Earrings: shop at The Collective // Styrofoam Cups: Cowtown Made or shop at The Collective
Dress: shop at The Collective // Necklace: Fringe Gifts {on sale!} or shop at The Collective //
Cheers to Gameday Flutes and Clear Purse: shop at The Collective
Purple Texas Forever Tee: Fringe Gifts or shop at The Collective
Cleat Chaser tee: Fringe Gifts // Pearl Headband: Fringe Gifts
or shop all at The Collective (including earrings)

This is only a small sampling of the TCU fashion, accessories and game day gear you can find at The Collective!  Obviously it's probably the easiest to stop by the shop and shop for everything all at once since I did pull all of these items from the shop.  Items available online I've linked above and you can always reach out to Cowtown Made and Fringe Gifts on social media and they will pull items for you!  They are both very helpful and you can even pay Venmo and pick your items up later.

Is anyone else as excited for football season as me?! There's just something about this time of year!! Go Frogs!

New Year's Eve fashion

Happy New Year's Eve Eve!  I can't believe we're about to say goodbye to 2018!  It feels like the holidays came and went so fast and it's a little crazy to me that we're one day away from NYE!  I'm really looking forward to ringing in the new year... mostly because 2018 was awful for me but also because I CAN'T WAIT to wear my dress!

sitting made simple® fort worth

Are you the parent that panics when you realize you need a babysitter?  I mean, I'm the mom that panics over just about anything because I have severe anxiety lol buuuut babysitting outside the family was definitely one of those things that I avoided.  Chris and I are blessed to have our parents in the metroplex and I also have an older brother which gives us great access to free babysitting (praise!) but it's not always the most convenient.  That usually involves us driving Kendall at least 30-45 mins or someone coming to pick up Kendall, transferring a car seat and packing a bag... OR someone driving to us and they end up spending more time in the car than we actually needed them to babysit!

I told Chris awhile ago... we need an option where we can have a babysitter for an hour or two and not ask our family members to always change their schedules and do so much driving.  And believe it or not, even with 5 adults in our immediate family nearby, we still have times when no one is available... I mean, not everyone is just sitting around waiting to help us!... they do have lives of their own! Whaaaat?! ;)

a few Fort Worth Christmas events I'm looking forward to

Happy December!!  I can't believe how quickly the holidays are coming... that Thanksgiving is already over a week past and we're into the last month of the year!  The holidays go by so quickly so I've tried really hard to be as on top of things this year as I can be.  I'm already done with a lot of my shopping; we've had our Christmas tree up for a week now... and we're working on the outside lights next!  Hopefully this weekend!  (That's on you, hubby!!)

We haven't attended any holiday events yet which is strange for us, but hey, life is busy!  But since today is the first day of December, I thought I'd share some events that I have my eye on and I'm looking forward to!

small business saturday fort worth shopping guide

Happy Small Business Saturday!! As a small business owner myself (you can join my Mary Kay deals here) I'm passionate about supporting other small businesses and entrepreneurs! The small business community in Fort Worth is truly amazing and in the past year I've met so many killer women through blogging and networking! The support of this community is probably one of my most favorite things about Fort Worth... the phrase "Community over competition" truly thrives in Funkytown and I love the energy it brings to this city!

Today I just wanted to share a few small business sales from some of my favorite Fort Worth businesses so you can make sure to get some deals and show your love to all of these hard working business owners! Have you done any of your Christmas shopping? Main Street arts festival 2018

Main Street arts Festival is in full swing. It’s Saturday morning and I’ve already been twice! LOL!  Thursday I took some time to myself and took some pictures and walked around the festival alone. Friday I took Kendall and we had a girls afternoon. This festival has always been one of my favorite Fort Worth events. Artists from near and far come to display at this event and there’s always extremely interesting things to look at. Since I’ve been attending this festival for years, I wanted to share just a couple of my insider tips and insights.

My first recommendation would be to definitely dress in layers and come prepared for the unpredictable weather. We’re currently having gorgeous weather but it’s also been extremely windy lately. Unfortunately the forecast is showing storms today (Saturday) so if you’re headed there today definitely pack your umbrellas as well!  With Main Street Arts Festival being downtown, the wind plays a big factor. You never know whether it will be stagnant or a windtunnel. Friday morning it was extremely windy and felt quite cold. If the wind shifts it could end up being very warm, especially on the weekend when the crowds are larger. It’s important to wear layers so that you can add or take off whatever you need.

My second tip, and question I was asked most frequently, is about parking. I kinda hate to even give away my favorite place to park but I guess it’s better to share, right?!  My favorite place to park is off of Throckmorton and Jennings  near City Hall. This is on the south side of downtown. It’s not usually a crowded area. During the week there are people coming and going rather than a lot of people being parked there for work all day so they’re usually open spots. On the weekend all Street meter parking and parking garages are free in downtown, therefore any of this parking that I mentioning now around City Hall is free today and tomorrow. It’s also great because you don’t have to necessarily drive into downtown and deal with any of the traffic or road closures. There are also numerous spots that are back in only. I’m not afraid to parallel park unless it is in my husband’s truck LOL and I don’t even try in that. One of the best things about the back and parking is it makes it easier for people with larger vehicles like me. Sometimes there’s a few open spots so it makes it easier for me to open my doors and load my kid and stroller in and out of the car. There are also lots of trees in this area that provide a ton of shady parking spots. This location is about a two block walk to the convention center, and the Main Street arts Festival goes from the convention center north all the way to the courthouse.  If you’re attending the festival and want more detailed description of my parking, you can reach out to me on Instagram or Twitter and send me a message! Here’s a great resource for all of downtown parking

I really would not say that parking is an issue in downtown Fort Worth because of the abundance of lots, parking garage is, and parallel parking. But this tends to be in the area that I like to park in. If you like to go further into downtown and park closer to Sundance Square I recommend the free parking garage is. Sundance Square also has numerous red umbrella valet stations. If you are just attending the festival they will not validate your parking for valet. Valet parking will only be validated if you go to one of the Participating retailers in Sundance Square. This can be stores or restaurants that will validate your parking after purchasing something at their store or eating at the restaurant. If you plan to go to a restaurant or shop boutiques in addition to going to the festival, valet parking may be a good option for you. It’s free with validation, or you can pay the valet fee which I think is $20. It is not worth it to pay this fee in my opinion. There is a ton of free parking.

My last tip had to do with beer LOL but to be honest I’m not sure this tip applies anymore. I don’t want to advertise anything falls so I will look into it a little bit more and if it does still apply all update this post later or you can also send me a message on Instagram or Twitter

One last thing, this festival uses coupons. All food and activities are paid for with the coupons, which are a dollar apiece. Coupon stations all have signs telling you the average prices of certain items. I recommend adding up what you think you’re going to eat or do and buying that amount of coupons. If you need more you can always go back and add a couple of coupons here and there. You can buy coupons individually so in my opinion it makes sense to buy less than what you think you’ll need and add some at the end if necessary instead of buying a big amount and getting stuck with leftover coupons at the end.

I don’t know that I will make it back to the festival anymore this weekend, although I would like to even though I’ve been twice! There’s always new music and performances so every day is different. Kendall and I enjoyed a Fletcher’s corny dog yesterday and mama had a beer. It was a beautiful day with my daughter in our beautiful city that we can’t get enough of! Everybody remember that Mayfest is coming up! I love this time of year in Fort Worth!!

P.S. I just Wanted to share also that I’ve been having some technology problems lately, hence the reason there hasn’t been photography on my blog posts. I’m noticing that some of my photos are not even posting. So I’m working on that and I apologize for my blog posts not looking as nice lately! It’s always something! Hope y’all have a really beautiful weekend and you’re able to enjoy some time outside, weather permitting. If you’re in Fort Worth you could head over to my Instagram stories for a couple of screenshots of other things that are happening today!

Texas Sass Valentine's day giveaway

I have always loved Valentine's Day! Today I'm doing an Instagram Giveaway to celebrate women and love ❤ I hope y'all LOVE the items I selected! I'll explain a little about each item and why I love it so much! Keep reading for a bonus entry opportunity!

Glamboxes clear makeup bag - This is a bag I received with my Glambox and I set it aside for a future giveaway. I have a makeup bag just like it in black and it has quickly become my favorite. It's durable plastic, easy to clean and dare I say life changing for this mom with very little time! No more digging through my bag for that item that inevitably falls to the very bottom... I've seriously cut my makeup time in half just because of the convenience of finding the item through the clear bag first!

Professional Makeup brush set - 5 brushes including powder, blush, eye shadow, eye crease and  eye liner/brow . This makeup brush set is my favorite because it comes with the brush holder to organize all your brushes and has extra pockets for makeup, brush cleaner or whatever you want! The fold down flap keeps the brushes covered and clean.

Beauty That Counts® Mary Kay® Baked Cheek Powder - This adorable heart shaped blush is such a flattering shade on any woman. It has been my favorite blush and it was limited edition so I've been hoarding them basically lol but someone will be so lucky to get this! It also gives back to the Mary Kay Foundation which supports women's shelters and survivors of domestic abuse.

Mary Kay® Lash Love® mascara - Every girl needs a good mascara and this is a great formula for anyone. The flexible brush makes separating lashes super easy and it helps condition lashes and defend against breakage.

Accessory bags, set of 3 - Organize your jewels, delicates and essentials in these adorable white bags with rose gold lettering! Now that everyone is starting to think of spring and summer vacations, I thought these would be perfect for the travel girl or for anyone that just loves keeping their items clean and tidy. Every girl benefits from a little organization!

"Stay Sassy" trinket tray - If you watch my insta stories you'll know I specifically picked out this item at Winton and Waits for this giveaway! It's perfect for jewelry or little things around the office or house and it's my reminder to you that we all have a little sassy in us ❤ Winton and Waits is a great boutique for affordable, adorable clothing, accessories and home decor and they partner with non-profits that benefit Ethiopian women, adoption, and survivors of sexual exploitation.

I'd love to keep all of these items, not gonna lie!!! But I'd rather share the LOVE and say thank you for following along and supporting me, whether you read the blog or follow me on Instagram or Twitter... I appreciate you! This giveaway is not sponsored in any way, so the specific brands I've chosen are just brands I happen to like.

To enter the giveaway you must follow the steps on my Instagram Giveaway Post.
✳For a bonus entry, comment below with which item you're most excited about!

What do y'all have planned for Valentine's Day? Chris and I haven't even discussed!! Haha #parentlife

Over-the-knee boots on sale!

Hey y'all! Wanted to share these boots today because I finally joined the over-the-knee boot party!  I ordered these Marc Fisher boots in gray and black and if you follow me on Instagram you may have seen on my stories the other day that my gray boots came in! I'm super excited to share that even though I was worried about the fit, that they are absolutely perfect and fit me really well! One of the reasons I purchased these particular boots is because I have thin legs. After reading the reviews, a lot of people said they fit them well when they had trouble finding boots that would stay up on their own because of their thin legs. Bingo! Since I want to be able to wear them with pants as well as skirts, they needed to be snug.
I also really don't like shopping when I can't try things on. It can often cause a problem for me because I have narrow feet and my size can vary a lot across brands as well as type of shoe. I end up returning a lot of shoes or exchanging back and forth. Soooo in my opinion, this is a great boot that fits well and at a super great price point, especially for an OTK boot!!
These Marc Fisher boots come in three colors from DSW (the other is a Berry color). I am linking them from DSW because they are currently on clearance price varying from $59 to $89. Use code JANUARY18 for an extra discount but hurry, it ends tonight!
(Pic from DSW)
I can't wait to get the black! I'm not over here tracking them obsessively or anything!! If you are looking in black and DSW doesn't have your size stocked (pretty much all sizes ARE stocked), you can try here.

I can tell these are boots I'm going to get a lot of use out of so I'm really happy that I made the decision to get gray and black!
The chunkier block heel makes them very comfortable and easy to walk in, even if I have to chase after Kendall. They are faux suede and the back panel of the boot is a stretchy material.
Today we are lounging around the house as a family and I will be doing some meal prep for the week later. It's sort of a gloomy day and we're all relaxing and enjoying the end of the weekend. What are y'all up to today?
