TCU Game Day Fashion

I'm back baby!  If you don't follow me yet on Instagram then you may not know that I started working part time with Shop Small Fort Worth.  Working plus having a toddler plus working my Mary Kay business has dramatically reduced my time for blogging and therefore I've taken a HUGE break.  And on top of that, I've mentioned in the past too, that I want so badly to change platforms and revamp the entire blog.  To be honest, I don't really like posting on here any more and I've been "saving up" multiple blog posts until I have a new blog launched instead of driving traffic to this page... but well, here I am again posting on here because I most definitely have not had the time to launch an entire new blog or to even decide if I want to hire help with that or what.

So I'm still here and I've decided that I'm going to try to do 1-2 posts a week since Kendall is now in school, and then I'll also work on figuring out what I'm going to do with the blog overall.

So now that it's mid-August (whaaaat?!) I'm happy to say that my first blog post after the long hiatus is all about Game Day Fashion... more specifically TCU Game Day Fashion!  Y'all know I love my purple and my Horned Frogs (any fellow alumni??) so I'm excited to share some adorable outfits and some tailgating/ watch party goods!  I will be linking some things but even if I can't link things directly, everything pictured is available at The Collective, which is a local Fort Worth boutique.

This is only a small sampling of the TCU fashion, accessories and game day gear you can find at The Collective!  Obviously it's probably the easiest to stop by the shop and shop for everything all at once since I did pull all of these items from the shop.  Items available online I've linked above and you can always reach out to Cowtown Made and Fringe Gifts on social media and they will pull items for you!  They are both very helpful and you can even pay Venmo and pick your items up later.

Is anyone else as excited for football season as me?! There's just something about this time of year!! Go Frogs!

Rainy wedding day

It's drizzling this morning and as I continue my wedding picture posts, I'm reminded of the weather on my special day... also RAIN!  Not going to lie, I was really upset, at first, that it rained on my wedding day.  I know I know, everyone says it's good luck.  But I was really hoping for a beautiful sunny day (total crap shoot in Texas in March... as is the rest of the year except summer lol) but that SO didn't happen.

It wasn't a Texas thunderstorm, but the rain was definitely heavy enough to affect the day.  Transportation was slower, getting ready was harder for us girls due to lack of natural light for our makeup sessions (but my amazing Mary Kay girls made it happen!!), and well, as you can imagine, getting in and out of a limo and moving at all in a huge ball gown in the rain.... yeahhhh not easy!!

BUT, when everything was said and done, the rain actually ended up giving me some fantastic memories (like my girls huddled around me with umbrellas, keeping my dress off the ground) and some even more fantastic pictures!

Swing Into Spring with Neiman Marcus

Last night I attended the Swing Into Spring event at Neiman Marcus in Fort Worth.  I've attended fall events in the past, but never the spring show... I was expecting the same set-up but was surprised with a different format.  Unfortunately, we didn't get to experience a runway show, but TCU alumni and Neimans still made the event a great success!

The store was closed off from the public and we were able to browse without crowds.   We enjoyed wine and beer, and a few munchies.  There were complimentary makeovers and you could even have a sketch artist draw a portrait... which I, of course, took advantage of!
A few live models posed throughout the store, as well as walking, to show off some spring fashions.  The biggest trend I noticed was PINK! ("Whoever said orange was the new pink was seriously disturbed!")
My favorite piece had to be this Alice + Olivia dress, which is so simple and SO chic!
I also saw some great color in the men's department with fun, lightweight teal and blue blazers!  Obviously bright, saturated colors are in this spring season!  Overall, it was a fun, relaxed event... but I missed the runway!  I was really hoping to see more outfits put together.  However, I did enjoy interacting with the models last night... they were all so sweet and loved to talk about what they were wearing, so in a way, it was even more informative and personal.

I LOVE hot pink... what about you?

TCU Frog Chic Fashion Show

Wednesday evening I attended my second Frog Chic Fashion Show, hosted by TCU Alumni & Neiman Marcus Fort Worth.  I fell in love with this event last year and couldn't wait to attend again this year!  True to form, Neimans rolled out the red (or should I say purple?) carpet for us!  The event provided guests with wine & champagne and a yummy array of hors d'oeuvres.  After mixing and mingling, Neiman Marcus held a spectacular fashion show to alert us of the upcoming fall trends.  Before and after the runway show, guests were invited to shop the store, and were especially encouraged to pick up purple pieces for the Frog's football season!

I have to say, I'm obsessed with just about every trend I saw! Red as a neutral, boy-inspired clothing, mixing and matching geometric prints as well as various animal prints, and rocker meets lace... everything was fabulous!

I did my best to capture some great photos, but despite my prime seating location next to a break in the chairs, my efforts were somewhat thwarted by the use of my cell phone camera... which is not a bad camera when it gets a chance to focus, but it struggled with the models' movement.  Alas, here's to the upcoming fall season! ...which I'm sure won't actually hit Texas for another 2 months ;-) Can't wait to try out some of these looks!  Which is your fave??
