TCU Game Day Fashion

I'm back baby!  If you don't follow me yet on Instagram then you may not know that I started working part time with Shop Small Fort Worth.  Working plus having a toddler plus working my Mary Kay business has dramatically reduced my time for blogging and therefore I've taken a HUGE break.  And on top of that, I've mentioned in the past too, that I want so badly to change platforms and revamp the entire blog.  To be honest, I don't really like posting on here any more and I've been "saving up" multiple blog posts until I have a new blog launched instead of driving traffic to this page... but well, here I am again posting on here because I most definitely have not had the time to launch an entire new blog or to even decide if I want to hire help with that or what.

So I'm still here and I've decided that I'm going to try to do 1-2 posts a week since Kendall is now in school, and then I'll also work on figuring out what I'm going to do with the blog overall.

So now that it's mid-August (whaaaat?!) I'm happy to say that my first blog post after the long hiatus is all about Game Day Fashion... more specifically TCU Game Day Fashion!  Y'all know I love my purple and my Horned Frogs (any fellow alumni??) so I'm excited to share some adorable outfits and some tailgating/ watch party goods!  I will be linking some things but even if I can't link things directly, everything pictured is available at The Collective, which is a local Fort Worth boutique.

This is only a small sampling of the TCU fashion, accessories and game day gear you can find at The Collective!  Obviously it's probably the easiest to stop by the shop and shop for everything all at once since I did pull all of these items from the shop.  Items available online I've linked above and you can always reach out to Cowtown Made and Fringe Gifts on social media and they will pull items for you!  They are both very helpful and you can even pay Venmo and pick your items up later.

Is anyone else as excited for football season as me?! There's just something about this time of year!! Go Frogs!

fall in texas

In Texas you have to check the weather every day before going out... ok scratch that... you should probably check it every few hours!!  It's kind of ridiculous how the temperature fluctuates.  Sometimes I contemplate packing up my summer clothes and storing them away during the fall and winter months and then I'm like, oh wait, it could be 80 degrees tomorrow.  I'd love some extra space in my closet but truthfully I feel like I need my entire wardrobe accessible year-round.

It can be annoying but it can also be really nice.  I'm not so much a cold weather person.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE layers... I love sweaters and sweatshirts, I love comfy jeans, I love scarves and jackets and leggings... but I really do hate the extreme cold.  So, it's always nice, to me, when temperatures vary.  I can deal with cold when it's interrupted by warmer days.

Yesterday was one of those days.  According to my car when I was running errands, it was about 80 degrees yesterday in Fort Worth!!  Do you ever feel like you have a hard time dressing for the season because your weather doesn't match the season?  Yeah, I feel like that a lot.  So yesterday's outfit was a combination of the "fall feel" with the comfort of shorts and a t-shirt.
I love mixing patterns.  And right now that is so on trend.  I decided to keep the outfit basic and mostly grays and black and then I let my accessories show my flare.  The socks and hat are both from Target from a few seasons ago.  I guarantee you can find many plaid options right now that are similar.

Flirt turns five

I am NOT an early Christmas shopper.  I'd love to be one of those women that has every gift for every person figured out before Thanksgiving and Christmas cards ready to mail and meals planned... but I am not.  Not even close.  I'm the person that says every year that they're going to Christmas shop early and do it online to avoid crowds and not shop for myself on Black Friday... and then does just that.  And then finishes the last of the shopping on Christmas Eve.  No joke.  UGH.

So I guess you could say I'm actually ridiculously proud of myself for having a very few small gifts already purchased this year... how sad is that?!  But seriously, I am proud... baby steps.

My timing and procrastinating may still be in a sad state BUT I've managed to improve a little with the planning portion i.e. making sure I'm shopping big sales and using coupons and getting freebies for myself along the way so I'm not actually spending the money on myself.

This is a great time of year for sales in all stores, not just big box retailers.  I highly recommend checking into local boutiques and making sure that you always follow your favorite shops on any social media platform they offer.  Why?  Because they announce events and sales, that's why.  And many boutiques even have style ambassadors now that can offer discount codes and/or reward customer loyalty.  Also, many boutiques are offering buying/shipping via Paypal on instagram so you don't have to be local to them!  So you really can end up shopping some amazing deals and get gifts that are far more personalized and unique at great prices.

I follow a fabulous boutique here in Fort Worth called Flirt Boutique (you can follow them on Facebook and Instagram) and I took full advantage of their Flirt Turns Five celebration event last week!  Check out some of my pics from the event!~
P.S. Flirt~ we have the same curtains!! ;-)
