6th Ave Homes House Shows

Small companies nowadays have to be super innovative.  I know that from working for a small company!  The game is constantly changing and entrepreneurs are successful when they are flexible, when they offer experiences and when they make people feel special through those experiences.

So happy to share something special today!  If you're local to Fort Worth, this post is for you!  You may think you don't need to know about a real estate company unless you're buying or selling a home.  Not true!  If you are someone that loves Fort Worth and loves the unique events in Fort Worth, you want to know all about 6th Ave Homes!

Not only is 6th Ave Homes innovative in the way they approach real estate with their in-house design teams and their knack for preserving the historic and adding modern flair, they are also super unique in the way they approach their business, and I've never seen anything else like it!
This is Josh Weathers and Chris and I had the pleasure of meeting him and chatting with him last year when we attended a 6th Ave Homes House Show!  These private concerts are held in renovated Fairmount neighborhood homes, are free, and are aimed at bringing the community together for a once-in-a-lifetime experience that shows you what the neighborhood is all about!

Now, we definitely didn't need to be "sold" on the Fairmount neighborhood; when we found out we were having Kendall a few years back, we knew exactly where we wanted to be!  There is still an old-fashioned sense of community in Fairmount and it's the kind of neighborhood where parents are cooking out together, hanging on porches and having a beer or glass of wine, and watching the kids on the block play!  But 6th Ave Homes has also tapped into that idea even further by bringing all kinds of people together, welcoming them into a home and creating a unique experience you can't get anywhere else: a private, acoustic concert by amazingly talented musicians.
Being in a historic home, one where you know people may have gathered 100 years ago+, sitting on window sills and rugs and whatever chairs you can find, listening to killer music, singing along, clapping and laughing, sharing beers, sometimes passing beers or water all the way from the back of the house to the front just so someone doesn't have to step over the entire crowd... this is an experience I've never had anywhere else!  6th Ave Homes is showing us every day what it's like to be a true Fort Worth resident, to love on your neighbors, to enjoy music and life together... and we're lucky enough to experience it!
Stay tuned TODAY at 10am for the announcement of their next House Show and tickets going on sale.  It's a FREE event and therefore sells out in MINUTES!  I hope I've enticed you to try it out!  It's something I'll never forget!!  I hope to see you at the next House Show!!

150 years of Fort Worth

You may have seen parts of this exhibit on my snapchat (username: TX.Sass) on Monday.  Chris and I had the afternoon together and we were looking for a little something to do that was free, air conditioned and wouldn't take our entire day, since we also wanted some relaxing time.  This 150 Years of Fort Worth history exhibit was just the thing!
We passed the downtown exhibit on our walk last week and I made a mental note.  On Monday we had lunch at the Paris Coffee Shop and then it hit me in the car on the way home... perfect afternoon activity!  We visited the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History a little while ago and really enjoyed it, so we knew that this satellite exhibit would be great too!  And best of all, it's located downtown and it's FREE!  So we drove home, said hi to our animals for a few minutes, then walked to the nearest Molly the Trolley stop.  If you still haven't given Molly a try, it's a must in downtown!  Although downtown is very walkable, this heat is ridiculous sometimes!  No one wants to arrive at their destination covered in sweat.  Molly the Trolley is free and the AC is always blasting!  It is such a cute way to get around town.

Chris and I took a walk this afternoon to enjoy the warm weather, sunshine and to preview Main Street Arts Festival!  ...mostly because I couldn't wait until tomorrow.  I LOVE the Main Street Arts Festival!!!

We are supposed to have some gorgeous weather in the next few days so you better get your bum downtown to check it out!!  There's nothing like it!  This is no craft fair... this is a collection of some of the most talented artists across the country, plus yummy food and alcohol!  I'm sure you'll find me mostly at the craft brew beer garden! :-)

Free Fort Worth Fun

It may be a gloomy day but there's still a bunch of FREE activities happening today in Fort Worth!  I just got home from my first yoga class ever at The Trailhead.  I'm not usually the get-up-early-and-go-workout type but I decided to take advantage of a free class!  Trailhead is located along the Trinity River, just across the Clearfork bridge from Hulen Street.  Chris and I discovered this the other day on our walk, and after seeing their Spring Kickoff Lineup, I knew I wanted to come back today!  I struggled a little in the class, but hey, I'm a beginner!  And I was actually told that I didn't look like I've never done yoga before... SCORE.   There's still lots going on over there today, so check it out!
If you're near downtown this morning and early afternoon, check out Sundance Square for the 3rd annual Earth Party!
And last but not least, if there's one event to attend today (rain or shine... seriously, I'll be there!) it's Brewfest on Crockett (West 7th).  Admission is free and there will be live music to accompany a great selection of craft beers (available for purchase).
Hope I see you out and about today!! Let's enjoy all that our beautiful city has to offer!  We're so lucky to have so many events that are free to the public!  I love Fort Worth!

Fort Worth Free

If you don't already have plans tonight, head on over to Sundance Square for another Fort Worth Free event!
It may be chilly outside, but bundle up and take advantage of some amazing music, right in the heart of downtown!  Sundance Square is holding a free concert on the brand new stage, tonight starting at 8pm.  We are blessed to have a city that offers so many cultural events, so I hope that you'll head out and support Adonis Rose & the Fort Worth Jazz Orchestra! Check out Sundance Square's Facebook Page for more details!

National Coffee Day!

There's only a few things in life that I love so much I can't go without... coffee is one of those things! My journey with coffee began in college when, like many college students I needed to stay awake late & pull all-nighters to study & finish projects... so thankfully Frog Bites at TCU (does this still exist? TCU has changed so much since my old ass was there! But I digress.. ) had a Starbucks station where I indulged in Caramel Macchiatos. From macchiatos... to cappuccinos in Italy when I studied abroad... to coffee with cream & sugar... to coffee with one cream... to straight up gimme black because I can't handle any of your flavor or foofy nonsense... my taste has changed but one thing has remained the same... I LOVE COFFEE!!
Saturday September 29 is National Coffee Day! I'm sure there are tons of free coffee deals out there... here's one for you if you don't feel like searching on your own! Everyone should enjoy a great cup of coffee & a donut on a Saturday morning! :-)
