Lace bell sleeve top + West Elm Fort Worth grand opening

Ok so Kendall is on a pretty good schedule and she's usually getting bottle and going to bed somewhere around 6:30-7:30 every night. It's awesome that she finally sleeps so well at night considering what my first few months were with her, BUT it also means that unless we have a babysitter Chris and I are chillin and locked into in the house at 6pm haha.

Well, last night momma broke the rules so we could stop by the opening of the brand new Fort Worth West Elm!

my wedding: 20s inspiration

Tomorrow I will be attending a charity event in Dallas with a 1920s theme and I'm super excited!  This is my favorite era... my hubby's too... so I'm looking forward to dressing up and dancing to some jazzy tunes!!

This morning is drizzling rain and I've been cuddled up in my robe with my donuts and coffee, searching instagram and pinterest for 20s hairstyles and inspiration... it has inspired me to do a wedding post!  So today I'm reliving some of my 20s inspired wedding {March 15, 2014}  Enjoy!

Summer color for home

I'm a girl that can appreciate a great variety of home decor, including calm, all-white interiors.  But, when it comes to my own personal style... I LOVE COLOR.  Bold brights make me happy.  I am definitely not someone that's afraid of putting color in my home.

I'm really loving all of these items... not all in one room of course ;-) These are great pops of color that range from easy-to-change items like wall art, clocks and throw pillows to more permanent items like furniture and lighting.  {shop all items by clicking thumbnails below}

TIP: Consider changing out a rug for the summer season!  Yes, it may require moving furniture and a little heavy lifting (depending on the size rug) but it could be a fantastic dose of color in any room and will change the look of your furniture and accessories because you've changed their background!  Think bold color and then add pops of that color throughout the room in your accessories and blankets and pillows.  You can even change out lamp shades to a coordinating color or pattern!  Have one rug for spring and summer and a second, more subdued color scheme and pattern for the fall and winter months.

How do you incorporate color into your home?  Pops here and there or bold statement pieces like a colored sofa or chair?

Hope you'll LIVE IN COLOR! I think it's more fun!

May flowers for fashion & home

Today, I'm all about the florals!  I have to admit, it's taken me a little while to jump at the floral trend this spring... reason?  Well, get ready for a flashback...

When I was in elementary school, I went through a black phase... as in black clothing, head to toe.  No, I was never goth or anything like that lol (can you picture that?? me either) BUT I went through a time period when I couldn't stand floral prints and I felt like everyone was trying to force them.  I significantly remember receiving a gift from family friends that was a long sleeve cotton shirt with a small floral print ALL OVER IT.  I hated it!

Even though that was just a phase, I think of it A LOT.  I remember not being happy with lots of outfits... things that I thought were too girly and just not "me".  I was kind of a tomboy... always playing outside, playing competitive soccer and keeping up with the guys.

BUT as we all know, time passes and our tastes change... things come back in style and it's a whole new ballgame when you're in your 30s.  Now I embrace the girly, the pretty, the floral, the all-over prints!  If I love flowers so much, why can't I love floral prints??

Chris and I went to the botanical gardens the other day, for the first time this year.  We strolled around for hours, admiring the spring blossoms and sunshine.  At first, we were just walking and talking.  And then of course, I had to bust out my camera... because there were just too many beautiful colors to pass up!

The flowers were gorgeous and so bold... so I started thinking about ways to incorporate floral into fashion AND home decor!  Check out these really fun spring florals!  What's your favorite item?  Shop these looks below!
