Fun, Fashion & Funkytown

Happy Friday!! I can't believe how quickly this week went by! All of a sudden, we're in the middle of MayFest 2014 and the weekend is upon us.  The weather has been beautiful in Fort Worth the last few days, and looks like it will continue over the weekend!

Looking for something to do?  Here's a few local events that have caught my attention!  Maybe I'll see you there!

Boutiques and businesses in the West 7th area will be hosting a fabulous designer showcase & spring fashion show tonight!  Many boutiques will have trunk shows and events happening throughout the day, and the main fashion show will begin at 7pm.  Check out West 7th on facebook for more event info

MayFest 2014
And last but certainly not least, MayFest 2014 is happening now and for the rest of the weekend!  This is one of the best annual activities in Fort Worth, in my opinion.  I love how spread out it is in Trinity Park.  There's grassy space, trees, and plenty of room for one of the biggest local events you'll see!  It is completely family-friendly but also a ton of fun for adults.  There are kids activity areas, a variety of live music on multiple stages, shows throughout the day like the Great American Duck Races and the Pony & Dog show, fabulous food and drinks, games, carnival rides, and local vendors and artists selling goodies!  Get outside and enjoy the amazing weather in the next few days!!  Find all MayFest info including parking tips on their website!

I hope to see you out and about over the weekend!  We are so blessed to live in an amazing city with so many fun activities to offer!  I say it every day... I LOVE FUNKYTOWN!

Coffee stop

I'm always on the lookout for cute, local places to give my business.  Not that I don't enjoy my starbucks, because I do (let's be honest, I enjoy coffee anywhere... I'm just coffee obsessed!)... but I definitely prefer little local coffee houses, especially within walking distance!

Casablanca Coffee is an adorable shop, tucked away on 8th street, right off of Throckmorton.  I've admired it for months, but it seemed to be closed every time I walked by... perhaps because I take most of my walks later in the evening, rather than the morning.  But this morning's cool temperatures and overcast skies brought Chris and I out earlier in the morning for a long walk.  Finally, a perfect time to stop in and check it out!!

Our coffee was delicious, as was the apple turnover that Chris and I split.  I sipped on some black, dark roast, while Chris enjoyed a cappuccino.  According to him, it's the best cappuccino he's ever had... and after tasting, I had to agree that it was right up there with the cups I used to enjoy in Italy, where I first began drinking cappuccinos.  The shop also serves as a small convenience store, offering snacks and drinks.  There's not much seating, but then again, this coffee shop is more of a "pop-in-and-out" place, rather than a "sit-and-sip-for-hours" coffee house, that mostly serves downtown businesses.  However, they do offer free wi-fi and if you're lucky enough to grab a chair, you'd surely feel relaxed and welcome :-)
