Tasting of cru at the shops at Clearfork

I was so fortunate to be invited to an influencer tasting at Cru Food and Wine Bar in the Shops at Clearfork last week and today I would love to share a recap of the food we tasted and our experience! I was so excited to be invited to this tasting! The Shops at Clearfork have not only been a great destination for me and my family but they’ve been extremely supportive of local bloggers and influencers!  The service at Cru was top notch and everyone was so welcoming.

I definitely enjoy a glass of wine now and then and my go to is very dry red wine. I really enjoyed this tasting because it was parings of wine and food. I’ve actually never attended a wine pairing before which is kind of shocking to me considering how much I do like wine! I thoroughly enjoyed having a different kind of wine with each course and it was really amazing how the tastes paired so well with each different food.

We started with a lobster and shrimp potsticker and an Ahi Tuna Tartare and a little bubbly. Love me some bubbly so bam, we’re off to a good start! 😉
Does anybody else feel way left out in this All Day Rose’ world?  I don’t like sweet wine and  therefore  rose isn’t  something I normally order or  drink anywhere. With it being so trendy lately,  I’m not gonna lie I’ve been a little FOMO over here!  I was thrilled when I actually liked the rose that we were served!  This is very exciting y’all!  Game changer!

Each and every course was divine as we got to taste delectable dishes such as filet mignon and lamb lollipops.  Each wine brought out the taste of the food and really change my mind about being more open to asking for wine recommendations in restaurants instead of sticking with what I am used to .

I hate to say that I cannot speak to the scallop because it’s not something that I eat (I took the tiniest bite but I have no frame of reference!)  However I did share some of my tasting with the other girls at the table and they all thought everything was delicious! I’m very limited in the seafood I eat but I did try the potsticker and the tuna tartare and enjoyed both!

I absolutely loved the dessert  and loved at Texas peaches were incorporated! I was again a little iffy about the wine because it is an after dinner wine or dessert wine and it is very sweet. I was pleasantly shocked to find that the sweetness was cut when you combined it with the sweet dessert. This is totally counterintuitive to me and not something I ever would’ve decided to pair on my own, but I really ended up enjoying it and it was a nice way to finish the meal. Leave it to the professionals! Ha!
I loved the sleek decor and the social atmosphere. The light fixtures were one of my favorite decorative items. This is definitely a place for socializing and enjoying a great meal and drinks with others.  The high top tables would be fun for a girls night or a happy hour.  The Decor is also classy enough to maybe celebrate a special occasion with a loved one or your family.

A HUGE thank you again to Cru and The Shops at Clearfork for having me! Everything I tasted was phenomenal and I really enjoyed some nice social time out of the house It wa, dressed up eating a nice meal. It was so nice being off mommy duty for a night (even though my husband does most of the bedtime routine! Praaaaise!) I feel like I’m usually inside before dusk LOL and constantly sharing food with a toddler so this was a welcome change of pace for a night! I can’t wait to go back with my husband for a date night, or maybe a girls’ night wine tasting! (SheBelongs I’m looking your way!) I have my eyes on a flight of wine!
You can find a Cru Food and Wine Bar near you on their website and check out all their events. The Wild Alaskan Halibut Fest is happening through Sunday. You can also find them on Facebook! And be sure to sign up for emails from The Shops at Clearfork for all the insider info on this restaurant and other events and shops!
