I am an 80s child! Perhaps you can tell from my obsession with neon colors..? With me, the brighter, the better. And I'm always in love with mixing tons of color... I'm not really down with a pop of just one. With the latest craze for denim, I'm also loving the return of frayed jeans and acid washed items!
For today's outfit, I decided to mix some colored denim with this denim vest. It's funny how your taste for one thing (denim) can stay the same and your taste for another (vests) can totally evolve. I remember the vest trend... ah yes, I can remember it well. Back in the day, I recall quite a few vests that were purchased for me that I know for sure I only wore to please my mom or other gift-giver. I mean, I seriously have flashbacks of wearing vests to school while my mom dropped me off, and then taking them off at school and stuffing them in my backpack or locker, and then pulling them out again before going home. Did anyone else do this?!! HA! It makes me laugh all the time when I think back to the difference between dressing for others and now dressing for myself. But I am a people pleaser and never wanted to hurt anyone's feelings over an article of clothing I didn't love.
This time around, I feel a little different about the trend. I love this vest, despite the fact that it is obviously too big on me! I mean, let's be honest, I could fit my leg through the armhole. But it is still AWESOME. So I've channeled my 80s/90s vibes with this outfit. And what other location would be appropriate to display it than in front of another love of mine, graffiti. And, no, I did not pose in front of the "f*cking psycho" on purpose... haha that was realized later when looking at the pics. Oops ;-)
Frayed edges, faded denim, patches, colorful bling... this vest has it all going on. So despite my pops of color, I kept the rest of the look very simple {solids say what?!} These purple denim shorts are old but I keep pulling them out. My crochet shoes are a major go-to in my closet because I seriously still cannot believe how comfortable they are. All I'm missing are some muscles (lol) and a tan!

Does anyone else get a total Back to the Future vibe from my glasses??! (For all you youngins... check out Biff's gang to see what I'm talking about)
I think a white tank is the perfect undershirt for this vest.
I used to date a guy in middle school that always posed with his thumbs in the pockets like this. He was seriously the coolest. I feel like it screams 90s. What a Zack Morris!! (He looked like him too!)
Laughing and hands on the hips... that's more me ;-)
I think this is the "OMG my legs are so white" pose! Are we finally done with the nonstop rain, Texas? Mama needs a tan!
I LOVE big hoops. Absolutely my favorite kind of earrings and I really love these spiked ones. They're a great mix of metals and definitely a statement. I also wore them with this killer black and white outfit a few weeks ago.
No bedazzling needed!
