Winter Weather Skincare Favorites

Texas Sass's Winter Weather Skincare Favorites

Season dictates changes in skincare, just like it does with our wardrobe.  Like most women, I have to  change up my routine and beauty products when this crazy cold weather hits... even with oily skin.

And for those of us in Texas, you really have to keep up your skincare game because the weather is constantly changing!  Your skin really doesn't have time to adjust so it's YOUR job to make sure you are consistent and proactive with your beauty routine.

In my 5 1/2 years as a beauty consultant, I've learned the tremendous importance of exfoliation and consistent cleansing and moisturizing.  No matter what, you should be cleansing and moisturizing twice a day!  Morning and night... no excuses!  It is best if your cleanser has a gentle exfoliant built in.  This is why I love my 3-in-1 cleanser!  It's a cleanser, exfoliator and toner in one.  I use the Combo/Oily Skin Formula but there is also a Dry/Normal Skin option.  I love that Mary Kay offers different formulas based on skin type.  This helps you customize your products to your needs exactly.  I'm also obsessed with my face brush.  I can really tell how much better it works than just washing with my hands!

Another thing I've learned is that the more often you exfoliate, the better.  Therefore you must use a product that is gentle enough to use multiple times per week.  Microdermabrasion at a doctor's office or spa is great but it is too harsh to do more than once every 6 weeks or so.  It's still a beneficial treatment, but what is even more beneficial is a toned down treatment more often.  It's sort of like exercising... if you go to the gym once every 6 weeks, you're really not going to see the results you want.  Instead, working out must become part of your routine, a consistent task that you make time for and are dedicated to.  I have seen the biggest improvement in my own skin through the use of the home Microdermabrasion Set.  It is gentle and effective.  Right now I currently use it probably about twice a week, in the shower, after cleansing my face.

Always, always moisturize!  Even if you have oily skin.  The fact is that your skin produces more oil to compensate for lack of moisture... so if you're oily, start moisturizing consistently and your skin will produce less oil.  I use the Age-Fighting Moisturizer Combo/Oily Skin Formula (Dry/Normal Skin here) as my everyday moisturizer.  But even with my oily skin, sometimes adding an additional moisturizer is necessary.  Then I turn to my Oil-Free Hydrating Gel (Intense Moisturizing Cream for Dry/Normal skin)

Don't forget to exfoliate and moisturize the rest of you!! I love the Satin Lips Set (your lips are the only skin that doesn't naturally exfoliate! Help them!!), the Satin Hands Set for my hands, elbows, legs and feet and the 2-in-1 Body Wash / Shave + The Hydrating Lotion!  If you want anti-aging on your whole body (Um yes please!!!) then check out my most favorite body lotion EVER, the Targeted-Action Toning Lotion.

Cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize, repeat!! If you want to customize and build your own personal skincare routine, contact me!!
