Coffee stop

I'm always on the lookout for cute, local places to give my business.  Not that I don't enjoy my starbucks, because I do (let's be honest, I enjoy coffee anywhere... I'm just coffee obsessed!)... but I definitely prefer little local coffee houses, especially within walking distance!

Casablanca Coffee is an adorable shop, tucked away on 8th street, right off of Throckmorton.  I've admired it for months, but it seemed to be closed every time I walked by... perhaps because I take most of my walks later in the evening, rather than the morning.  But this morning's cool temperatures and overcast skies brought Chris and I out earlier in the morning for a long walk.  Finally, a perfect time to stop in and check it out!!

Our coffee was delicious, as was the apple turnover that Chris and I split.  I sipped on some black, dark roast, while Chris enjoyed a cappuccino.  According to him, it's the best cappuccino he's ever had... and after tasting, I had to agree that it was right up there with the cups I used to enjoy in Italy, where I first began drinking cappuccinos.  The shop also serves as a small convenience store, offering snacks and drinks.  There's not much seating, but then again, this coffee shop is more of a "pop-in-and-out" place, rather than a "sit-and-sip-for-hours" coffee house, that mostly serves downtown businesses.  However, they do offer free wi-fi and if you're lucky enough to grab a chair, you'd surely feel relaxed and welcome :-)

Happy National Dog Day!

Did you know that today is National Dog Day?!  I just wanted to take a moment to recognize the doggies in my life, and how amazingly wonderful they are.

Mr. Wilbur has become my main sidekick, and I can't explain how awesome it feels knowing that this dog loves me back and is willing to protect me at any cost!  We snuggle, we run and play, and I take him with me everywhere I go... when possible ;-)

I don't see Cozmo as much as I'd like, but when I do, we have a blast together!  He's such a cool pup and he's always willing to go for a run with me... always a ball of energy and enthusiasm.  I've watched him grow from a tiny puppy into a beautiful dog.  I'm blessed to have him in my life, even if he's not my own.

Hope you're spending some of today with your puppy pals :-)  Happy National Dog Day!

Eye Makeup Look: Green Eyes

Today's eye makeup look was created with the following Mary Kay products:

Remember, purple is great for green eyes because it is the opposite and makes your green
eyes pop!  If you have blue eyes, try shades of brown, or our Mary Kay At Play™Baked Eye Trio in "Earth Bound".  If you have hazel eyes, try the Earth Bound Trio also, or neutrals that play with gold tones!  If you have brown eyes, be daring and try some color like purples, greens & blues!  Check out the Mary Kay At Play™Baked Eye Trio in "Ocean View".

If you want a 100% guarantee you're choosing the correct eye makeup for your eye color, try Mary Kay's Eye Bundles! And don't forget the brushes! Blending is the key to wearing bold color, and brushes are the key to blending!

TCU Frog Chic Fashion Show

Wednesday evening I attended my second Frog Chic Fashion Show, hosted by TCU Alumni & Neiman Marcus Fort Worth.  I fell in love with this event last year and couldn't wait to attend again this year!  True to form, Neimans rolled out the red (or should I say purple?) carpet for us!  The event provided guests with wine & champagne and a yummy array of hors d'oeuvres.  After mixing and mingling, Neiman Marcus held a spectacular fashion show to alert us of the upcoming fall trends.  Before and after the runway show, guests were invited to shop the store, and were especially encouraged to pick up purple pieces for the Frog's football season!

I have to say, I'm obsessed with just about every trend I saw! Red as a neutral, boy-inspired clothing, mixing and matching geometric prints as well as various animal prints, and rocker meets lace... everything was fabulous!

I did my best to capture some great photos, but despite my prime seating location next to a break in the chairs, my efforts were somewhat thwarted by the use of my cell phone camera... which is not a bad camera when it gets a chance to focus, but it struggled with the models' movement.  Alas, here's to the upcoming fall season! ...which I'm sure won't actually hit Texas for another 2 months ;-) Can't wait to try out some of these looks!  Which is your fave??

Where are you, Spring?

Ok so, it's officially spring now, right? We're seeing the hotest trends for spring fashion and we're all getting excited to bust out those cute pastel or floral outfits and shoes... unfortunately the weather has other plans. In North Texas we are, once again, having a cold front push through, after a small tease of spring weather. So right now I'm still in layers and bundling up in blankets, and well, not feeling so "springy", if you will. But, I am so looking forward to the Spring trends, that I spend most of my time browsing fashion and beauty blogs! Confession: I follow more New York bloggers than anyone... I just love the vibe of the Big Apple and the unique personalities that thrive there! and I'm almost obsessed with following some of these ladies (online, ha! I'm not a stalker)... I'm so drawn to the idea of these girls being out there on the streets, doing their business, their way, setting the trends and alerting us amateurs of what's hot. I have such a desire to be doing the same, and slowly but surely, I think I can make that happen. I've realized the value in being "up-to-date" in fashion and beauty, because it's all about women celebrating being women! As I build my dreams, I also build my personal businesses, and I'm thankful, that in one of my businesses, I work along side a company that cares just as much about being up-to-date and the trendiest, most popular bloggers! I'm obsessed with the spring trends in Mary Kay and their dedication to making it so easy on us consultants to share the latest trends and innovations with friends and followers. So while I may not be a daily blogger that's figured her path in this blogging/social media online world (YET!), I can pass along great info that can help you stay on-trend too! This eCatalog is one of my favorite tools, because it's a quick visual that gives a great overview of makeup looks, but also trends in fashion and accessories to coordinate! Sweet dreams

Saturday night. 10:40pm. Just climbed into my sleep number bed with my vapo rub, nasal strips, tissues & a book. $10 bucks says I fall asleep before reading more than 2 pages...

Sweet dreams fellow aging, late 20-somethings ;-)
